Ballyliffin to host 2008 Irish Seniors Open

   The Irish Seniors Open will be played over one of Ireland’s finest links courses with the announcement that the 2008 edition will be played at Ballyliffin Golf Club in the North West of Ireland, from June 20-22.   It will be the first time the Irish Seniors Open has been hosted by a links course in its 12 year history with the tournament being played over The Old Links.

Teen sensation Rory rounds off superb season with Rosapenna Scratch Cup

TEENAGE sensation Rory McIlroy rounded off the season on a high note by winning the inaugural 36-hole Rosapenna Scratch Cup last weekend. The event, played on the Pat Ruddy-designed Sandy Hills Links, attracted some of Ireland’s top amateurs. In fact, on display in the Pavilion were the British Amateur, South of Ireland, East of Ireland, West of Ireland and Irish Close titles – all of them won by three Ulster players.

Seamus Mallon Opens Rosapenna Golf Pavilion & Morris Ruddy Links

Retired Northern Ireland politician Seamus Mallon became the first golfer to play the new Morris Ruddy Golf Links at Rosapenna on Thursday last June 16th. Mr. Mallon officially opened the new Rosapenna Golf Pavilion and Morris Ruddy Links with Club Captain Peter Smith, Lady Captain Patricia Bogan, club members, invited guests and Rosapenna Hotel and Golf Course owners Frank and Hilary Casey.

On 14th June 1919, Captain John Alcock and Lieutenant Arthur Brown successfully completed the first non-sop transatlantic flight from St. John's Harbour, Newfoundland to Clifden, Co. Galway in 16 hours 27 minutes.
